ENTERING THE COTA

Whether you’re heading to Circuit of the Americas for the first time or coming back for another unforgettable weekend, a bit of preparation will make your race day much smoother. From bag checks and entry rules to parking details and arrival times, here’s everything you need to know before you go.

Bag check and security

Every guest entering COTA will go through a security screening, and all bags are subject to inspection. Be sure to review the official list of permitted and prohibited items in advance–it covers everything from backpacks and snacks to cameras and merchandise. Any restricted items will be confiscated at the gates, and bringing banned objects can result in removal from the venue.

Tickets and entry

All fans must present a valid ticket to enter the facility. The easiest way to purchase is online, and tickets for popular areas–like the Main Grandstand, Turn 12, and Turn 15–often sell out early. COTA also offers General Admission tickets, giving fans the freedom to move around and explore multiple viewing zones throughout the day.

Parking options

• Free general parking is available in select outer lots, but these fill quickly and require a short walk or shuttle ride to the gates.
• Preferred parking (Lots A and E) offers the most convenient access to key areas like the Main Grandstand, Turn 1, and Turn 15. These are paid options and can be purchased online in advance.
• Rideshare and drop-off zones for Uber, Lyft, and taxis are located at the McAngus parking lot instead. Fans using rideshare can take advantage of a free tram running between McAngus and the Grand Plaza – perfect for those staying in downtown Austin who’d rather skip the hassle of parking altogether.

Parking lot opening times
For the NASCAR Cup race day, official parking lots open around 8:00 AM. Arriving early helps you beat the traffic, breeze through security, and have more time to explore the Fan Zone, enjoy live entertainment, and check out the pre-race ceremonies.
