Public transit isn’t the most common choice for reaching the track, but it’s a reliable option for getting from the airport to downtown Austin before connecting to other services.
Capital Metro Bus Route 20 provides daily service between Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and downtown Austin, departing from the Ground Transportation Center outside the lower level of the Barbara Jordan Terminal.
Once downtown, you can switch to a rideshare or taxi to complete your trip to COTA (about 15–20 miles southeast of the city).
Taxis are widely available at the airport, hotels, and major downtown locations. They’re a comfortable, direct way to reach the track, especially for small groups. Expect the ride to take 25–35 minutes, depending on race-day traffic.
Recommended providers:
Both Uber and Lyft operate throughout Austin and are among the easiest ways to reach COTA.
However, during major event weekends, COTA Blvd is reserved for official event vehicles and shuttle buses only. All rideshare services, including Uber and Lyft, will operate from the McAngus parking lot instead. Fans using rideshare can take advantage of a free tram running between McAngus and the Grand Plaza. To keep traffic moving efficiently, no rideshare vehicles will be allowed to enter COTA Blvd at any time during the event.
